The Best Photo and Movie Apps

Hey everyone! Mekul is back with another post and today I am going to talk about the best Photo apps for iPhone and iPad. So without further ado, let’s get started.

  • Snapseed
  • Probably the best photo app there is on the App Store. The simplicity to use it makes it even better. The options that you have to edit the photos are very good like brightness, frames, contrast, options are very good. The option of frames are broad. This app probably has a lot more features than a free photo app on the App Store. Download Snapseed now from the App Store.

  • PhotoToaster
  • PhotoToaster is a great app, especially when looking for professional filters, frames and FX. There is an FX Brush that allows you to brush in areas of focus and colour, and find that a cool feature. It also has unlimited undo’s which is great because many apps still don’t have that feature. This app is available for $3.99. Download Snapseed now from the App Store.

  • Photo Editor by Aviary
  • I might say that a photo editor is great at filters and frames, and brightness and all that jazz, but really this app is really worth checking out for some features like, red-eye removal, whitening teeth, effects, memes, stickers do drawing features. It is worth checking out and one of my favourites, this app is avaliable for free. Download Snapseed now from the App Store.

  • iMovie
  • Moving on to movies, this app is Apple’s simple video editing app (it isn’t as good as the computer version), it does the job well. This has slow/fast-mo features, trim and split in movie making. You can choose from some great trailers, or movie themes. iMovie is avaliable for $6.99. Download iMovie now from the App Store.

Thanks for reading, sorry for not posting, see you later. Mekul

    iWatch: My Thoughts

Hey everyone! Mekul is back with some of my thoughts on the highly rumoured iWatch that Apple could be developing. iWatch is rumoured to be working with iOS 8’s new Healthbook app. If you want to read my thoughts continue.

Is it actually going to come out?

Yes. Definitely. I mean it hasn’t actually been officially announced that the iWatch will come out but Apple has picked up two previous Nike FuelBand engineers and presumably are in the iWatch team. Reports have been saying that the iWatch will be going into production. Apple will only make the iWatch’s if people want to buy it.

What do you want it to look like?

I’d like it to be a bit like Samsung’s Galaxy Gear watch because it would have a bigger screen, easier to read information and all that.

How much do you think it will cost?

It is a very complex accessory so I think because of that, around about $150.00 40% to build, 50% for Apple and 10% for the people who build it.

    Would you buy it?

Depends. If it only has features for the HealthBook app then no, but if it has features like make phone calls, send messages, play games then yes I would consider it.

    Thanks for reading. Mekul

    Ingress comes to iOS

For those who have been waiting for Ingress on iOS (which was only on Android before) will be happy to know that the internet giant, Google has released Ingress on iOS.

The game uses your real location, objects and landmarks around you to provide clues and find ‘mysterious energy’.

    Here is the blurb.

A mysterious energy has been unearthed by a team of scientists in Europe. The origin and purpose of this force is unknown, but some researchers believe it is influencing the way we think. We must control it or it will control us.

“The Enlightened” seek to embrace the power that this energy may bestow upon us. “The Resistance” struggle to defend, and protect what’s left of our humanity.

    Highlights from the description.

  • The World is the Game – Move through the real world using your iOS device and the Ingress app to discover and tap sources of this mysterious energy. Acquire objects to aid in your quest, deploy tech to capture territory, and ally with other players to advance the cause of the Enlightened or the Resistance.
  • Strategy – The struggle is being played out globally. Track the progress of players around the world, plan your next steps, and communicate with others using an Intelligence map.
  • Form Alliances – The struggle to save the planet spans the entire world. Groups of people acting together can be more effective than individuals acting alone. Cooperation across neighborhoods, cities, and countries will be needed to achieve the ultimate victory.
  • Download Ingress now from the App Store. It supports iOS 5 and up but crashes on iOS 6. Thanks for reading, Mekul.

Apple’s ‘Reuse and Recycle’ program comes to Italy

Hey everyone! Mekul is back with another post. Apple has started another market for the ‘reuse and recycle’ program in another country: Italy.

If you do not know what the ‘reuse and recycle’ program is you trade in your iPhone get a gift card and you can buy an iPhone 5s, 5c or 4s. You still have to spend some money but it comes to a more reasonable price.

According to a source, this will be coming to Australia soon.

Stay tuned, more posts, I will post something about Apple’s highly rumoured iWatch. Thanks for reading, Mekul.

A jailbreak for 7.1.x has been released!

Hey everybody! Mekul is back with a exciting new post, which you probably all know by the title. Yes ladies and gentlemen! iOS 7.1 and 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 untethered jailbreak has been released. Before you jump ahead and download it right now, you need to know some information.

    Is it safe?

If you are using Pangu version 1.1 then you don’t have to worry, but if you downloaded the original version, I recommend that you read this. The program that you use to jailbreak your iDevice is Chinese, and I haven’t heard of this program before, which means I would approach with caution. I have heard that the jailbreak is free of malware, but still would approach with caution. On Pangu 1.0, there is a box that is ticked and you should un-tick it because it will install third-party software, like PP Sync. It also uses an expired enterprise certificate, which the evasi0n avoided this due to legal reasons.

    How do I jailbreak?

Follow the instructions on Pangu’s english website. You should always make a backup on iTunes first.

    What devices are supported?

All devices that support iOS 7.1.x.

When will tweaks and apps be updated?

Most tweaks and apps will be updated soon on Cydia, but there is a shared document made by iAdam1n about all the compatible tweaks.

    What exploits are used?

There are two exploits used, which could of (and possibly planned) been used on an iOS 8 jailbreak but was used on this version of iOS. It will be harder to find an exploit because Apple will likely patch the vulnerability in a future update.

    Is this unthethered?

Yes this is an untethered jailbreak.

What third party apps are installed if you check the box?

It installs an app called PP Sync, which is the Chinese version of AppSync. If you don’t know what AppSync is, it is a place where you can pirate apps and sync apps between iTunes which I do not support. PP Sync also causes instability and causes crashes on apps.

I accidentally left the box checked, what do I do?

Karen Tsai has made a tweak called Complete PPSync Remover. Add the repo http://cydia.angelxwind.net/ and search for the tweak.

    What is the link?

The site is en.pangu.io and download from the mirrors. I do not recommend that you download Pangu from any other websites than the ones on the site.

That is all from me. Thank you for reading. More posts coming throuout the week. Mekul

The Best Gaming Computers recommended by Mekul

Hello! Mekul is back with another post, which today I am writing about, the best Computers for Gaming! Now, all of these are not going to be cheap and cheerful, but the last one, I will try to give a cheep but relatively good for gaming.

The Pacstar Gaming/Video Editing Pro 2014

This computer has an excellent Intel Core i7-4770. It has 8GB RAM, a Samsung/Sandisk 120GB SSD SATA III for hard drive (though on the website, it says it also has a Toshiba/WD/SEAGATE 2TB, sounds better!). For a not well known brand, it actually sounds quite good since it has all those features, Windows 8.1, but you might want Windows 7. It will cost $1,499 and it is recommended by APC magazine.

Mekul’s rating: 8/10. It would be good if you could downgrade to Windows 7.

    Dell Alienware Aurora R4

If you know nothing about computers and I said ‘Alienware’, would you be scared? Well, you should be scared of the Intel Core i7-4820, with 16GB RAM, 1TB hard drive, Windows 7 Home Premium. An Alienware Standard Optical Mouse is included in the price, but for an extra $88, you can get a Alienware TactX mouse. To keep the CPU cool, the R4 uses liquid to keep it cool. What I like about it is that it comes with Windows 7 Home Premium and I know some people don’t like Windows 8. If you really want to you can get Windows 8.1. There is software designed for the R4 like customising the colour of the lights on the R4 and more. There are customisable options available on Dell’s website with the R4 like different models of the Core i7, chassis, graphics card, etc. The R4 starts at $1,998.99.

Mekul’s Rating: 10/10. If you are super serious about gaming, this is for you.

iMac 27″ Desktop A Mac is not always considered a gaming computer, more well known as an all in one. Though, with a Core i5 4670, maybe you’ll think again. 8GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 775M. It is configurable to a 3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 which if you are really serious about gaming, this is for you but the Core i5 is still great. It comes with OS X Mavericks with built in apps such as iWork and iLife. This is also family friendly and can be used for other things than gaming.

    Link: Apple

Mekul’s Rating: 9/10. It is pretty cool and a wide screen is a pro.

iBuypower Revolt A960 This is a very compact computer full with lots of goodies. 8GB RAM, AMD A10 6800k, Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 and a cool lighting system. According to PC Mag, it does well on on 3D games but no so well on Photoshop and CineBench, but hey, we are only looking at gaming here. As I said at the top, I’ll give you a cheap but reasonable gaming computer. Well, at Walmart, you can get it for $700!

    Link: Walmart

    Mekul’s Rating: 8/10.

So that comes to the end of the post. More posts will be coming soon! Do not worry! Singing off, Mekul.

Note: This was supposed to be a scheduled post, but it did not upload. Sorry about that!
